Choose Your Own Adventure Tag

I love doing tags, and when I saw Jesse from @BowtiesandBooks make a video answering these questions, I knew I had to do a post on it. The original creator is @ElliotBrooks, so thank you for creating this tag!

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. Name a character you can relate to on a personal level

  • Okay, there are so many characters that speak to me, but someone who stands out is Juliette Cai from These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. She is so badass and so driven I feel like we are both a little blindsided by our own goals. She also has a really great sense of humor, which I totally relate to (I try not to take life too seriously). She also manages to blend both femininity and masculinity in ways very similar to mine. Just from the moment of meeting Juliette, I knew that we were similar.

2. Name a character that you aspire to be like

  • I constantly look up to Bree Matthews from Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. She is so strong and resilient, not to mention powerful, and I would be lucky to be half as amazing as she is. She has been through so much and she is so real in her healing, I find that so admirable. I really look up to Bree and aspire to be her.

3. Choose a character to be your champion in a duel

  • It would definitely be Tau from The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. Besides his obvious fighting skills, his endurance and stamina are something anyone should look for in a champion. He is so talented and so strong, there is no doubt that I would win battles with Tau as my champion.

4. Name a character you love to hate

  • Cardan from The Cruel Prince series by Holly Black came to my head immediately. He is such an as*hole, but I cannot help but love him. I don’t know what else to say; I think he is totally hot. He is a terrible person, I know that. But I love hating him.

5. Name a character with whom you'd want to have a drink or spend a night on the town

  • Lila Bard from the Darker Shade of Magic series by VE Schwab is someone I could see myself being best friends with. I also have a massive crush on her, so I think that spending the night with her could have multiple meanings (I’m sorry, but it’s true). She is just so damn funny, I feel like I would have the best time ever hanging out with her.

6. Name a character with whom you would not want to cross paths

  • Tamlin from the Court of Thornes and Roses series by Sarah J Maas. To be perfectly honest, this is mainly because I know I would attempt to kill him on the spot. And while this would technically be a good thing, I really do not want to waste my time and energy on such a piece of human garbage.

7. Name a character you'd want to learn from or have as a mentor

  • Scythe Faraday from the Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman. He is just so wise and patient. I feel like I could learn a lot about myself and also humans from him. He is such a great mentor, I would love to learn from him in any capacity.

8. Name a character you could trust or have be your best friend

  • This may seem wild, but hear me out. I think Circe from the book written by Madeline Miller would be a great friend to have. See, I think she would be fiercely loyal and honest, and that’s what I want from a friend. I want my friends to tell me how it is, and I would most certainly get that from Circe. I also feel like she wouldn't judge me. She knows what it feels like to make mistakes, and I think she would celebrate that rather than bringing me down for it.

9. If you could adopt one character or give them a home, who would it be?

  • It would have to be Rin from The Poppy War by RF Kuang. I want to give her the biggest hug. She has been through so much, and I really want to be able to give her true love and support. I think I could offer the stability she has none of in her life.
