Matching Books with Music Genres

I love music as much as I love books. And I wanted to combine my love of books and movies into a blog post, which is how I thought to do it. Feel free to disagree with my matching; this is just my personal opinion.

Also, these selections are not necessarily recommendations. These are just books that I feel fit these genres (although you should try out most of them). And not every genre is here. Just ones I could think of. If you want a part two, let me know. Also, I will be giving zero explanation as to why these books fit. Half of them are in the genres I chose based on vibes. It’s also interesting to see if you agree with any of these if you have read any of them. Without further ado, let’s hop into the books.

Pop

  1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians or The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

  2. Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

  3. Frankly in Love by David Yoon

80’s

  1. Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian

  2. Ziggy, Stardust, and Me by James Brandon

  3. My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

  1. Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

  2. The Haters by Jesse Andrews

  3. Seven Devils bu Elizabeth May and Laura Lam

Pop Punk

  3. Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

Hip Hop

  2. Let Me Hear a Rhyme by Tiffany D. Jackson

  3. Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson

Punk

  1. The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band by Neil Strauss, Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee

  2. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

  3. Hello Girls by Brittany Cavallaro and Emily Henry

K-Pop

  1. Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo

  2. I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee

  3. Shine by Jessica Jung

Country

  1. The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

  2. Autoboyography by Christina Lauren

  3. East of Eden by John Steinbeck

I hope this was fun for everyone. I wanted to combine my two loves. In case you were wondering, my personal favorite genres are rock, pop-punk, punk, and hip hop. I like heavy music; I will not deny it. But, to be fair, I read books as I listen to music, totally unapologetically.
