All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson

TW: sexual assault, homophobia, transphobia, racism, death, r*pe, inc*st

George Johnson recounts his young life growing up both Black and queer. They go through stories of being in a fraternity, sexual experiences, and helping out Grandma. Their life in New Jersey is a fun, heart-breaking, and real experience. Everyone who the triggers won’t hurt should read this book.

I don’t give nonfiction books ratings, but I must say, I absolutely ate this book up. George’s writing is magnificent. Truly, it swept me away. His experiences spoke to me, even though I am not the person they’re speaking to. I love how they connected their life to the reader. The call to action given at the end of each chapter is eye-opening. This was a great read that I feel like I learned a lot from. I think anyone reading this can get something out of it, of they just keep their minds open.
