Echo Brown is a young wizard teaching us what it means to be a wizard. She outlines her life as lessons for the reader. She faces hardship after hardship, and still manages to be a vibrant young woman. This book will make you laugh, make you cry, make you nostalgic, and make you angry. Echo Brown is a talent on full display with this novel.

This book is a masterpiece; a true work of art. I read this entore novel in one sitting and I do not regret it one bit. Echo Brown holds nothing back in this magical realism autobiographical story that demands to be read and devoured. Brown's writing is outstanding. Every line reads like it was handcrafted specifically for each individual reader. Every word feels as if it was molded to be there. I underlined so many parts becasue I wanted to hold on to what Brown was writing. Brown perfectly melds the autobiogrpahical aspects of this story with the magic realism. I never felt a disconnect with the magic and the real; it just all worked together. This is a hard books to read becasue of the content in it, but those hard topics are handeled so well. The way the characters hanlde trauma is so realistic to how so many people handle trauma. Brown addresses topics that are really heavy and and hard to write about. Topics such as intersectionality, identity, and even just feeling like you do not belong are just some of the things Brown addresses in this novel. And she does it seamlessly. If you think you can handle the weight of this book, I highly recommend it. I cannot find one negative of this novel.
