All Enchanted wants is to be famous. And when she meets Korey Fields, it seems like all of her dreams are coming true. But Korey Fields is more than anyone has ever bargained for.
But Korey Fields ends up dead, and no one knows how it happened. The prime suspect, Enchanted, is someone the public is quick to blame.
This book is gut-wrenching. I wanted to vomit the entire time reading it. But vomit in a good way? If that makes sense. It was so scary and horrible (the events in this book) that even though I’ve never been through anything like Enchanted has gone through, I feel awful. I could never imagine being in this situation, but Jackson does too good of putting me in that situation.
The character work was too good. These people felt so real, so tangible, that it hurts my brain thinking about it. Situations like this happen so often in real life, especially in Hollywood, that I saw Korey as a surrogate as so many men in Hollywood. The reality of this fictionalized story is bone-chilling. Enchanted is a very vibrant young woman put into a real-life nightmare, and the writing shows it. You watched the light drain from her as her situation gets scarier and scarier.
The plot, while terrifying, is phenomenal. It feels real, and the progression of events feels realistic. It isn’t rushed, and it isn’t drawn out. The pacing is just gorgeous. You can see Jackson’s talent as a writer in this novel with how perfectly horrifying and ugly this story is while still being readable. I can’t express my love for this book, even with the horror of the events. If you are interested and horrified by the R. Kelly situation, you need to pick up this book.
