This fell flat for me. I heard mixed reviews of this book before going in, and I fall on the side of not loving this book. The first 60-ish percent bored me to tears. I mean I really did not care about any of what was happening, especially in this 60 percent chunk. There was literally only one character that I cared about, but since this is a multi-POV story, I feel like I should care about more than just one person. And many of these characters are supposed to be unlikeable. I have no issue with unlikeable characters. But this book made the unlikeable characters so stereotypical that there was nothing new for me to be interested in. The plot was incredibly convenient as well. I predicted the killer, which is something common for me personally. I normally do not knock an author or book when I predict a killer, but I do in this book becasue it was so formulaic that it felt too obvious and convenient for me. I found myself rolling my eyes at different plot points. The ending I actually did enjoy, as well as the writing style. The ending, while formulaic and convenient, was written in such a way that it was overshadowed. The writing in general was well done. I liked how the author wrote the different characters, even though I did not like them. If you are new to mystery and thriller, this is a book I would recommend starting with. But if you are a frequent of reader of this genre, maybe skip this book.
