August Wrap Up

Here are all of the books I read in the month of August, 2022. If you want to see how that all went, keep reading.

August has been an interesting month personally because I just moved back to university! So, I did my best to read as much as possible before the craziness of moving and the semester began.

That being said, I was able to read a ton, complete a reading experiment, and I was able to participate in the Tropeical readathon. Without further ado, lets get into the stats and what I rated each book.

Statistics

Books read: 20

Pages read: 5,877

Average Star Rating: 3.25

Books Read

Since there are so many books, I will limit my thoughts to a sentence or two.

Disclaimer: many of the books on this list contain subject matter that some may find triggering. Please look at trigger warnings before reading.

Little Eyes by Samanta Schweblin

5 stars

This reminds me of a black mirror episode and I love it.

The Magical Language of Others by E.J. Koh

No rating

This was a beautiful series of letters that made my heart ache.

The House Across the Lake by Riley Sager

2 stars

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer

No rating

Mormon history and crime history combined into one book? Sign me up.

I’m Glad my Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

This book deserves all of the hype it is getting. In fact, I think that it even deserves more.

Bunny by Mona Awad

5 stars

This book made no sense at all and I loved every second of it.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

1.5 stars

This was the grossest thing ever, and I do not know how I got through reading this.

This was the biggest surprise of the year. I cannot stop thinking about this book and I love it so much.

One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

This was good, but very forgettable.

If you like history and American history, this is an amazing addition to your knowledge.

4.5 stars

This was really gross but in an amazing way.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

4.5 stars

This was a stunning magical realism that did, in fact, bring a tear to my eyes.

Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson

3.5 stars

This was a great YA novel about imperfect women and music.

Everyone in this Room Will Someday be Dead by Emily Austin

4.5 stars

This made me question everything but it worked because of the “slice-of-life” style it is written in.

Counterfeit by Kirstin Chen

4 stars

This is giving a cross between “Hustlers” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” and it was so much fun. Definite “girl boss” vibes.

Alone With You in the Ether by Olivie Blake

2.5 stars

This was beautifully written, but the plot and characters were subpar.

Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee

5 stars

This is a stunning conclusion to a fantastic series that has now become an all-time favorite of mine.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

5 stars

I am so happy this is the classic I read this month. It’s just so good.

Saga vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

5 stars

This is my favorite graphic novel series of all time, and I am so happy I got to reread it this year.

The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman

5 stars

This is a heartbreaking and impactful book that I think everyone needs to read.

September Reading Plans

I have a few books on my TBR, and if I can get through that, I will be doing rolls for Becca’s Bookaplothon. But, since it is the start of the new semester, I don’t want to set up too many plans.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you had a good reading month as well! Let me know what you read this month!
